DHL Express has ordered nine additional B767-300ER(BCF)s from Boeing (BOE, Washington National). A statement issued during the ongoing Dubai Air Show said the widebody freighters would be used to underpin the logistics giant's long-haul intercontinental fleet growth.
"The additional B767 freighters are part of our efforts to modernise DHL's long-haul intercontinental fleet in order to fly eco-friendlier and more cost-efficiently," Geoff Kehr, senior vice president for global air fleet management at DHL Express, said. "Our goal is to enhance our well-connected global network whilst reducing carbon emissions and fuel consumption to benefit the environment, partners and customers alike."
When contacted by ch-aviation, neither DHL nor Boeing would comment on the exact aircraft to be converted or a timeline for their induction.
According to the ch-aviation fleets module, there are currently eight B767-300(ERBCF)s in service for DHL around the world: DHL Aero Expreso (two), DHL International Aviation Middle East (five), and Kalitta Air (one). For the B767-300ER(BDSF) variant, there are twenty-two in service via ABX Air (eight), ATI - Air Transport International (one), Atlas Air (two), DHL Air (one), DHL International Aviation Middle East (one), Kalitta Air (eight), and Mas Air (one).
