Air Alderney (London Biggin Hill) launched charter operations on February 7, 2022, using its only aircraft at present, a BN-2.
AirNav RadarBox ADS-B data shows G-BLNI (msn 2188) operated multiple flights between London Biggin Hill and Shoreham by Sea on February 7. Since then, it has also been deployed on charter services to Lydd and Alderney.
Air Alderney began its long process of launching in 2017 when it first took delivery of its first Islander. By 2020, it replaced that aircraft with another unit of the type, G-BLNI. In late 2021, hopeful of an end of the COVID-related lull in demand, the airline regained its Operating Licence and Air Operator's Certificate (AOC). However, it has yet to obtain the route licences needed to run planned scheduled services out of Alderney.
Even though the airline is headquartered at Biggin Hill, London's foremost business aviation gateway, it plans to operate scheduled flights connecting Alderney to Guernsey and Shoreham by Sea, possibly adding routes to Jersey in the future. Currently, Alderney is connected to Guernsey and Southampton in mainland UK by Aurigny Air Services (GR, Guernsey).
