Global Airways (GBL, Vilnius) began commercial flight operations on May 21, 2022, deploying its first and so far only A320-200 under a wet-lease agreement with Corendon Airlines Europe (XR, Malta International).
LY-LGA (msn 3927) was ferried after maintenance, at Larnaca, to Nuremberg on May 20, AirNav RadarBox ADS-B data shows, and subsequently began operating for the Maltese leisure specialist out of Nuremberg on various Mediterranean routes. The 13-year-old Airbus jet joins a sizeable fleet of wet-leased units operating for Corendon Airlines Europe as, according to the ch-aviation fleets module, the airline currently wet leases three B737-800s from SkyUp Airlines, two units of the type each from AirExplore and Go2Sky, two A320s from DAT, and one A321-200 from Privilege Style. Its in-house fleet comprises eleven B737-800s.
Global Airways (Lithuania) plans to shortly add two more A320-200s, LY-LGB (msn 2108) and LY-LGD (msn 4628). The airline is a Lithuanian affiliate of South Africa's Global Aviation Operations (GE, Johannesburg O.R. Tambo) and was certified in March 2022.
