Delta Air Lines (DL, Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson) began scheduled flights with its first two A321-200NXs, in line with the previously announced plan, on May 20, 2022.

Both N501DA (msn 10437) and N502DX (msn 10467) debuted commercial operations with services from Boston to San Francisco as DL1202 and DL302, respectively. The aircraft are based out of Boston and currently operate exclusively to San Francisco and Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson. Delta also plans to start deploying the type to Denver International, San Diego International (both starting on July 11), and Seattle Tacoma International (July 20), the ch-aviation schedules module shows.

Delta's A321-200NXs are outfitted for up to 194 passengers, including 20 business-class seats and 174 in economy, including 42 seats with extra legroom.

The airline has a further 153 A321-200NXs on firm order from Airbus alongside 70 options. According to its annual report for 2021, it plans to take twenty-seven A321-200NXs in 2022, 33 in 2023, 25 in 2024, and the remainder in 2025 and beyond. At least 12 aircraft will be set up in a premium-heavy configuration with 148 seats (16 in business class, 12 in premium economy and 110 in economy with 54 of these featuring extra legroom).
