CAMEX Airlines (Z7, Tbilisi) has been awarded an air operator's certificate (AOC) by the Georgian Civil Aviation Administration (GCAA) ahead of its planned launch on August 15, 2022.
The cargo start-up has so far inducted a single B737-800(BCF), 4L-CMX (msn 33549), which was ferried post-conversion to Tbilisi in early July but which has not been active since.
CAMEX is backed by US-based Gazelle Fund LP.
"The investments made here will help develop the country's economy and help Georgia take on the role of a transit hub between Europe and Asia, which means that Georgia will be able to transport more products to Europe and beyond," US Ambassador Kelly Degnan said in a statement.
CAMEX plans to take a second B737 freighter shortly and induct a further two by the end of 2022.
