Monarch Airlines (1968) (London Luton) has announced Leeds/Bradford as its sixth base in the United Kingdom with two A320-200s to be based at the airport from March 22, 2013. It currently already operates scheduled services from its bases at Birmingham, GB, Nottingham East Midlands, London Gatwick, London Luton and Manchester. From Leeds/Bradford it will serve Antalya, Barcelona El Prat, Bodrum Milas, Dalaman, Faro, Irakleion, Lanzarote, Larnaca, Menorca Mahón, Palma de Mallorca, Rome Fiumicino and Tenerife Sur in addition to Lyon Grenoble Alpes Isère and Munich flights already being launched as ski routes in December. It will continue to serve Munich as a year-round destination from LBA. This summer, Monarch will wet-lease two B737-300s from Aurela (Vilnius) and Small Planet Airlines (Vilnius) as well as two B737-400s from AirExplore (ED, Bratislava) and Air Italy (2005) (Milan Malpensa) from the end of July to be able to offer additional flights during the peak leisure travel season in the UK.
