Tunisair Express (UG, Tunis) has wet-leased an ATR72-500(QC) from Spain's Swiftair (WT, Madrid Barajas) for its domestic trunk route connecting Tunis and Djerba.
EC-KVI (msn 824) was ferried from Palma de Mallorca to Tunis on August 4 and started operating on behalf of the Tunisian carrier the next day. Tunisair Express has not filed schedules for the wet-leased ATR - Avions de Transport Régional and Swiftair did not respond to ch-aviation's request for comment.
The aircraft was previously used by Swiftair for its in-house scheduled flights within the Balearic Islands and to mainland Spain under the UEP! Fly brand.
Tunisair Express operates an in-house fleet of two ATR72-600s and one inactive ATR72-500, the ch-aviation fleets module shows. Even though the airline is a subsidiary of Tunisair (TU, Tunis), it operates independently under its own code.
Swiftair operates a diverse fleet of 45 aircraft ranging from ATR and E120 turboprops to B757-200s. Its ATR fleet comprises five ATR42-300(F)s, one ATR72-200, six ATR72-200(F)s, and three ATR72-500(QC)s.
