Atlas Air (5Y, New York JFK) parent Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings has confirmed in its quarterly report that it will take its three remaining B747-8Fs, the world's last new-build B747s, from Boeing (BOE, Washington National) by the end of the year.

"During the second quarter, we took delivery of the first of our four new B747-8Fs. The remaining three aircraft are expected to be delivered throughout the balance of this year. As announced in February 2022, all four of these aircraft are placed with customers under attractive long-term agreements," the holding disclosed.

The ch-aviation fleets module shows Atlas Air currently operates five B747-8Fs alongside a much larger fleet of previous generation quadjets, comprising seven B747-400s, two B747-400(BCF)s, two B747-400(BDSF)s, four B747-400(LCF)s (operated for Boeing under a CMI agreement), two B747-400ERFs, and twenty-six B747-400FSCDs. Sister carrier Polar Air Cargo (PO, New York JFK) operates a further six -8Fs, as well as three -400FSCDs.

Atlas Air confirmed plans to expand its B777-200F fleet, currently numbering nine units. The airline has a further four on firm order from Boeing, of which the first is expected to deliver in late 2022 and the other three in 2023.
