Canada Jetlines (AU, Toronto Pearson) will begin operations from its hub at Toronto Pearson on its first scheduled route to Calgary, on September 22, the Ontario-based leisure startup has announced.
Flights on the route will operate twice weekly, increasing to 3x weekly from October 13. More routes will be announced soon, the company said in a statement.
"The two cities represent cultural diversity, economic trade, and significant investment opportunities. We are encouraged to continue expanding our reach, with the goal of serving as Toronto's preferred airline," commented Chief Executive Officer Eddy Doyle.
"The launch of Canada Jetlines is yet another milestone marking recovery in the travel and tourism sector," added Calgary Airport Authority chief executive Bob Sartor.
The leisure startup initially planned to take off on August 15, and then on August 29, pending the finalisation of its air operator's certificate (AOC) from Transport Canada.
The carrier leases a single A320-200 from Jackson Square Aviation, according to the ch-aviation fleets module. It intends to grow its fleet to 15 aircraft by 2025, providing vacation packages to Canadian destinations and beyond through partnerships with airports, tourism entities, hotels, hospitality brands, and attractions.
