Finnair (AY, Helsinki Vantaa) has finalised the agreement covering its planned Public Service Obligations (PSO) routes in Finland, starting on October 28, 2022, and is considering wet-leasing capacity from DAT (R6, Kaunas International) for these operations.
The Finnish Transport and Communications Agency (Traficom) said that the flag carrier would fly from Helsinki Vantaa to Joensuu, Kajaani, and, in a triangle routing, Kemi/Tornio and Kokkola/Pietarsaari starting on October 28. Services to Jyväskylä will commence on November 28 due to the necessary operational preparations. Traficom Director Pippa Eklund said that the delay would have no effect on the total number of flights, as Finnair would operate with increased frequency. The PSO contract will be in place until July 30, 2023.
All flights will be operated by Finnair's regional capacity provider, NoRRA Nordic Regional Airlines (N7, Helsinki Vantaa), using its ATR72-500 turboprops. However, Eklund said that the carrier is authorised to wet-lease additional capacity from DAT (Denmark). NoRRA is a 60/40 joint venture between DAT and Finnair.
The total amount of subsidies for all four routes may reach EUR13.7 million euros (USD13.7 million).
