Caribbean Airlines (BW, Port of Spain) has been advised by the civil aviation authority of Trinidad & Tobago that it is not allowed to operate its aircraft under the Air Jamaica (Kingston Norman Manley) brand which it had done since the 2011 acquisition of the struggling Jamaican national carrier. Air Jamaica no longer holds its own air operator certificate but instead Caribbean has been operating six B737-800s under the Air Jamaica brand from Kingston Norman Manley and Montego Bay. The authorities argue that it either needs to operate all flights as Caribbean Airlines or get a separate air operator certificate for the subsidiary in Jamaica. Caribbean has now therefore started repainting its Air Jamaica branded aircraft back into standard colours. It is however still running an Air Jamaica branded website for now.
