Skymark Airlines (BC, Tokyo Haneda) will order three B737-8s and three B737-10s from Boeing (BOE, Washington National) to renew and increase the number of aircraft in its fleet. Skymark Airlines ratified the acquisition, announced in November, during a January 18 board meeting and informed the Tokyo Stock Exchange ((JPX) later that day.
The purchase includes firm orders for two aircraft of both types plus options for a further one aircraft from both types. The B737-8s are expected to be delivered during the 2026 fiscal year, and the B737-10s during the 2026 and 2027 fiscal years. The Japanese fiscal year runs from April 1 to March 31.
The JPX filing said that Skymark Airlines would pay fair market prices for the aircraft, however "disclosure of the actual pricing will be refrained by the request from the contracting party."
According to ch-aviation PRO airlines data, Skymark Airlines flies to 12 destinations within Japan. The low-cost carrier presently operates a fleet of twenty-nine B737-800s. The airline successfully relisted on the JPX late last year. At the time, Skymark president Hayao Hora said there would be a focus on fleet growth and strengthening the airline's balance sheet in the short to medium term.
