748 Air Services (IHO, Nairobi Wilson) is suspending domestic passenger schedules from March 1, 2023, to focus on humanitarian flights, the core business of the company, Managing Director Moses Mwangi has told Business Daily.
“We are only suspending the domestic flights until further notice,” he said. “We intend to employ all our assets and staff in our core business. Our core business has always been humanitarian aviation, with domestic scheduled flights contributing less than 10% of our business.”
ch-aviation has reached out to 748 Air Services for comment. No official announcement was made on the company website or social media, but flights are no longer bookable on the company platform.
The airline was operating passenger flights from Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta to Mombasa, Malindi, Ukunda, Kisumu, and Maasai Mara.
Business Daily reported the airline last week had suspended operations on the Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta - Kisumu route and said it would stop flying to Mombasa, Diani/Ukundu, Malindi and Maasai Mara from March, citing low demand. It operates a fleet of six DHC-8-Q400s and six DHC-8-100s, according to the ch-aviation fleets module.
748 Air Services was founded in 1995 in support of UN “Operation Lifeline Sudan” for relief and humanitarian mission support in South Sudan and Somalia, East- and Central Africa, including emergency food supplies, extraction of humanitarian staff in conflict zones, and providing support equipment.
