Eswatini Air (RN, Manzini King Mswati III International) has announced its planned operating schedule, fares and sales launch for a phased debut starting on March 26, 2023, with twice-daily rotations between Manzini King Mswati III International and Johannesburg O.R. Tambo, South Africa.
Reservations for flights opened on March 2, 2023. Still, the new state-owned carrier was awaiting its foreign operator’s permit (FOP) from the South African Department of Transport, but was given assurance that it would be issued in the coming week, ch-aviation was told. Its FOP for Zimbabwe has been secured.
On April 14, 2023, flights to Harare International, Zimbabwe, will take off with four weekly frequencies (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays).
The next destination will be Durban King Shaka, South Africa, starting on May 5, 2023, departing daily from Eswatini in the evening and returning from the coastal city early the following day. Phase Three will also see a third daily flight to Johannesburg to be operated in the afternoon.
The final phase will see the addition of Cape Town International, South Africa, from June 2, 2023, with thrice-weekly flights on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
“Our schedule is designed to offer connections via our hub, King Mswati III International Airport, for travellers between Durban and Harare as well as between Johannesburg and Harare,” the airline said in a statement.
Eswatini Air has two in-house EMB-145EPs, according to the ch-aviation fleets module.
It secured its air operator certificate (AOC) from the Eswatini Civil Aviation Authority (ESWACAA) in December 2022.
