Turan Air (Baku Heydar Aliev International), active between 1994 and 2013 and known to have been the first private airline in Azerbaijan, has been liquidated, according to an announcement in Vergiler, the newspaper of the country’s State Tax Service under the Ministry of the Economy.

The brief report notes that Turan Air, which has the tax identification number (TIN) 1400394111, “announces its liquidation” and that “creditors can submit their demands within two months to H. Aliyev International Airport, Khazar District, Baku, AZ-1044.”

Turan Air was established as a company in April 1994 with an authorised capital of AZN2.47 million manats (USD1.45 million) and conducted its first flight in June 1995. The founders of the company were the state concern Azerbaijan Airlines, now AZAL Azerbaijan Airlines (J2, Baku Heydar Aliev International), and a United States-based company known as Investment Trading International (ITI). In 1997, AZAL left the ownership.

The airline operated flights out of Baku and Lenkoran to destinations such as Ekaterinburg, Surgut, Novosibirsk, and Kazan International using, according to the ch-aviation fleets history module, a fleet of four Tupolev Design Bureau Tu-154M jets before ceasing operations on December 13, 2013. In 2005-07, it also operated one B727-200.
