Air Canada (AC, Montréal Trudeau) will wet-lease a B767-300ER from Omni Air International (OY, Tulsa International) to operate its seasonal Toronto Pearson-Manchester International route between mid-June and mid-July 2023.
The carrier plans to restart the 5x weekly service on June 17, 2023, using the wet-leased aircraft, the contract for which is currently scheduled through July 14, 2023. The ch-aviation schedules module shows that Air Canada will continue the seasonal route through October 1, 2023, but will deploy its in-house A330-300 after mid-July.
Air Canada's in-house widebody fleet comprises seventeen A330-300s, six B777-200(LR)s, nineteen B777-300(ER)s, eight B787-8s, and twenty-nine B787-9s. The airline retired all of its B767-300(ER)s, which were operated by LCC subsidiary Air Canada rouge (RV, Toronto Pearson), during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The ch-aviation fleets module shows that Omni Air operates eight B767-300(ER)s, currently chartered to the United States Air Force, alongside three B767-200(ER)s and three B777-200ERs.
Air Canada's Toronto-Manchester route will compete directly with Air Transat (TS, Montréal Trudeau), which flies the route year-round up to 5x weekly using a mix of A330-200s and A321-200NX(LR)s.
