China Airlines (CI, Taipei Taoyuan) has converted an earlier order for six B787-9s to B787-10s, diversifying its future fleet of the widebody jets.

In an announcement made during the ongoing 2023 Paris Air Show, the Taiwanese carrier confirmed its May 2023 decision to firm eight options for B787s, increasing its total commitment for the type to 24 aircraft. However, while previously all 24 were poised to be of the -9 variant, the airline has now formally confirmed that six aircraft will be converted to -10s.

The deliveries of the B787s to China Airlines are scheduled to begin in 2025 and continue through 2028.

The ch-aviation fleets module shows that the airline's current widebody fleet comprises twenty-two A330-300s, fourteen A350-900s, and ten B777-300(ER)s. It does not have any other widebody passenger orders confirmed.
