Eurowings (EW, Düsseldorf) took delivery of its first A321-200N and plans to deploy the aircraft mainly on its busiest routes to Palma de Mallorca starting in August 2023.
D-AEEA (msn 11412) was delivered from Hamburg Finkenwerder to Düsseldorf on June 21, 2023. The aircraft is configured for up to 232 passengers in a single-class layout. The budget carrier said the A321neo would now undergo "remaining outfitting" by Eurowings Technik and is expected to be inducted into service in August. It expects to take a further three A321neo in 2023.
The Lufthansa Group LCC currently operates (together with Eurowings Europe (Malta)) thirty-seven A319-100s, fifty A320-200s, seven A320-200Ns, and six A321-200s. It expects to take an eighth A320neo in 2024, completing its first round of fleet renewal.
Eurowings is the third group unit to take an A321neo after Lufthansa and Swiss.
