Universal Air (VO, Malta International) has bought four DHC-8-Q400s from Nordic Aviation Capital as it gears up for its planned expansion into scheduled and charter operations across the Mediterranean.
The Maltese carrier said in July that it had bought "several" Q400s but, at the time, did not disclose their identities or the exact number.
The ch-aviation fleets ownership module shows that NAC owns sixty DHC-8-Q400s, with more than half of them without a current lessee.
Universal Air's current fleet comprises two DHC-8-100s and one DHC-8-Q100. The airline plans to use the Q400s to launch scheduled flights between Romania and Israel, among other plans.
