Turkmenistan Airlines (T5, Ashgabat) has acquired two ex-Cathay Pacific B777-300(ER)s in a transaction arranged by SGI Aviation.
2-TKQA (msn 37898) and 2-TKQB (msn 39235), both 11.4 years old, were retired by Cathay Pacific in January and February 2022. They are currently in storage at Teruel, the ch-aviation fleets module shows. No delivery dates have been disclosed.
The Turkmen carrier obtained the consent of President Serdar Berdimuhamedow to add the two B777-300ERs and order four B737-8s earlier this summer.
The aircraft will be the first B777-300ERs in Turkmenistan Airlines' fleet, although the state-owned carrier already operates four B777-200(LR)s. Its Boeing fleet also comprises four B737-700s, eight B737-800s, and four inactive B757-200s. Turkmenistan Airlines also operates two A330-200(P2F)s and three Il-76TDs on its cargo network, as well as one B737-700(BBJ) and one Challenger 870 for the government.
