Sky Power Express Airways (Lagos) has resolved its dispute with the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADRIS) regarding unpaid taxes, airline spokesman Mohammed Yunus has confirmed to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
The provincial tax office on June 21 had sealed the airline's regional offices due to outstanding tax payments of NGN5.4 million naira (USD7,126.59), which primarily consisted of Pay As You Earn (PAYE) taxes deducted from employee salaries but not remitted.
Skypower Express Airways accepted responsibility for the failure to deduct taxes at source and reached an agreement with KADIRS for payment in instalments. As a result, the distraint order has been lifted, allowing the airline to continue its operations nationwide, the spokesman said.
Yunus said the airline is certified by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority and operates in Nigeria and West Africa.
According to the company website, its services include general charters, Hajj pilgrimages, and consultancy services. Between 2013 and 2015, it operated one B737-300(F), 5N-BMA (msn 24209), now stored at Amman Queen Alia, according to ch-aviation fleets data. In 2020, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) suspended Sky Power Express Airways' Part G operations specifications, effectively banning it from wet-leasing its aircraft to other airlines. At the time, its fleet comprised four Hawker 800XPs, two Bombardier Aerospace Challenger 604, one Challenger 601, and one Gulfstream G200.
