BBN Airlines Thailand (Bangkok Suvarnabhumi) has begun its Operating Licence drive in Thailand and hopes to launch operations in the country in 2024.
The start-up, backed by Avia Solutions Group, said that the OL was the first step in the certification process before obtaining an Air Operator's Certificate (AOC).
The chief executive of BBN Airlines Thailand is Apirak Homlaor, a former executive assistant to the vice-president of Phuket Airlines and a member of the board of directors of Airports of Thailand Ground Aviation Services Company.
Avia Solutions Group did not respond to ch-aviation's question about the fleet plan for the new unit. BBN Airlines Thailand will be the holding's second airline in Southeast Asia, following BBN Airlines Indonesia. ASG founder and chairman Gediminas Ziemelis said that the group planned to operate five airlines in five different Asia-Pacific countries by the end of 2024.
Avia Solutions Group currently owns, among many other non-airline entities, Avion Express, SmartLynx Airlines, KlasJet, AirExplore, Ascend Airways, Magma Aviation, BBN Airlines Nordic, BBN Airlines Türkiye, and Arcus Air.
