China Airlines (CI, Taipei Taoyuan) has exclusively mandated AMS Aircraft Services to sell five B747-400FSCDs with deliveries to new customers between April and October 2024.
Although the Taiwanese carrier did not identify the specific airframes, it said that the aircraft were manufactured between 2001 and 2003. The ch-aviation fleets module shows that the airline currently operates six B747-400FSCDs delivered in those years, which are also its oldest aircraft of the type. China Airlines' total B747-400FSCD fleet comprises fourteen aircraft, of which it operates thirteen in-house and leases one out to ASL Airlines Belgium.
China Airlines is in the process of a gradual phase-out of the freighter quadjets, replacing them with B777-200Fs. It currently operates seven of those aircraft with three more due.
