Lessor CMB Financial Leasing obtained permission to remove an A320-200, formerly operated by Aeroflot (SU, Moscow Sheremetyevo), from storage at Amsterdam Schiphol and ferried the aircraft out on March 12, 2024.
VP-BAC (msn 7215) was flying from Moscow Sheremetyevo to Düsseldorf on February 27, 2022, when it was diverted to Amsterdam as Germany closed its airspace to Russian-operated aircraft. However, the Netherlands followed shortly after that, stranding the Airbus aircraft at the airport. It remained mothballed until December 2023, when the outgoing government authorised its removal.
The 7.7-year-old jet was flown from Amsterdam to Tashkent International, but its final destination is unknown. The lessor did not respond to ch-aviation's request for comment.
VP-BAC retains a basic Aeroflot livery but has had all the airline's titles removed.
Another ex-Aeroflot aircraft, A321-200 VP-BOE (msn 5755), remains parked at Geneva, from which it was unable to leave on February 27, 2022.
