Malaysia Airlines (MH, Kuala Lumpur International) has appointed MJets Air Sdn Bhd as its dedicated narrowbody freighter operator for its cargo entity MAB Kargo Sdn Bhd (doing business as MASKargo), according to an April 5 Bursa Malaysia filing.
The short-term contract will run from May 1 to October 31, 2024. MJets Air is the commercial air cargo operator of MMAG Group Bhd and trades as Kargo Xpress (Kuala Lumpur International).
"The collaboration between MJets Air and MASKargo is aimed at optimising cargo transportation and logistics services to streamline operations and enhance efficiency, with the potential to generate mutual benefits for both entities and their respective clientele," the filing reads.
MJets Air was formerly known as MJets International Sdn Bhd. MMAG Group's aviation arm, which operates out of Kuala Lumpur International, delivers integrated cargo airline solutions including commercial cargo operations, ground handling, an oceanic trans-shipment facility, and on-demand cargo depot services, its website shows. According to ch-aviation fleets data, MJets Air/Kargo Xpress operates a single B737-400(F) and three B737-800(BCF)s.
MASKargo is the cargo arm for Malaysia Airlines and a subsidiary of parent company Malaysia Aviation Group. In addition to utilising belly space capacity on Malaysia Airlines passenger aircraft and other group-owned airlines, MASKargo operates three A330-200Fs.
