Kingfisher Airlines (Mumbai International) has at least temporarily lost its operating license on Saturday, October 20 when the Indian Directorate General of Civil Aviation has suspended the license saying Kingfisher has been unable to come up with a plan on how it plans to resume operations. Kingfisher had suspended all flights at the beginning of October already after staff protests over months of unpaid salaries had turned violent. The Indian authorities have asked Kingfisher to come up with a viable business plan on how the carrier can refinance itself, pay outstanding debts and then resume operations. Unless it is able to find new investment or come to agreement with its workforce and debtors, it is unlikely that it will be able to resume operations in the short term. Kingfisher had started operations in 2004 and at the end was only operating domestic services with a fleet of A320 family and ATR aircraft.
