AZAL Azerbaijan Airlines (J2, Baku Heydar Aliev International) has entered into a lease agreement with CDB Aviation for two A320-200Ns with deliveries due in June and July 2025.

Both jets will be equipped with CFM International LEAP-1A engines, making it the first such A320neo in AZAL's fleet. The Azeri flag carrier currently operates three A320-200Ns on lease from Aviation Capital Group with Pratt & Whitney PW1100G engines, according to the ch-aviation fleets module.

Last year, the airline's president, Samir Rzaev, told ch-aviation that AZAL would take three dry-leased A320neo Family aircraft in 2025-2026. The carrier also has six A320-200Ns and six A321-200Ns due from Airbus with deliveries set for 2028-2030, but has not revealed the choice of engines for these aircraft just yet.

The carrier's previous-generation narrowbody fleet comprises three A319-100s and six A320-200s. It also wet-leases three A320-200s from Heston Airlines (HN, Vilnius).
