Flybird Aircraft Management Services Limited obtained its Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) on June 10, 2024.
The Abuja-based aircraft management and trading company has not disclosed any further details regarding its commercial plans. It did not respond to ch-aviation's request for comment.
Earlier this year, local business magazine Leadership reported that Ahmed Borodo, the founder and CEO of Flybird Aircraft Management Services, was planning to establish a scheduled domestic airline named Q-air. It is unclear if the newly granted AOC will be used for this purpose. No further information about Q-air is currently available.
Besides aircraft management, Flybird currently offers a range of services, including charter brokerage, maintenance, and crew services. However, the company does not have a website or social media presence. Borodo was a pilot with Virgin Nigeria turned entrepreneur with experience in the aviation and telecoms industries.
