Abra Group has notified Spain’s securities regulator (Comisión Nacional de los Mercados y la Competencia - CNMC) of its proposed acquisition of charter specialist Wamos Air (EB, Madrid Barajas), starting the clock on the first phase of an inquiry the government agency is making into the operation.
The CNMC said on its website that it was notified on July 11. It now has one month to rule on the proposed acquisition, which reportedly includes a EUR130 million euro (USD141 million) investment from Abra. The UK-based holding owns avianca airlines (AV, Bogotá) and GOL Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes (G3, São Paulo Congonhas).
However, the CNMC could require further analysis of the purchase, which would then move to a second phase lasting up to four months, Forbes España reported. If it were to be approved, Wamos Air’s Covid-19 loan payment would also be accelerated, ch-aviation reported earlier this month.
The ch-aviation fleets module shows that Wamos Air’s fleet comprises twelve aircraft, including five A330-200s and seven A330-300s.
