VietJetAir (VJ, Hanoi Noi Bai International) ordered twenty A330-900Ns from Airbus during the 2024 Farnborough Airshow.
The newly ordered aircraft will be deployed on the LCC’s growing long-haul network and on regional high-demand routes. They will also replace its current fleet of A330-300s.
The ch-aviation fleets module shows that VietJet has 307 additional jets on order, namely eighty-seven A321-200Ns, twenty A321-200NY(XLR)s, 100 B737-8s, and 100 B737-8-200s.
The company currently operates a fleet of 85 aircraft, including seventeen A320-200s, thirty-six A321-200s, eleven A321-200Ns, fourteen A321-200NX, and seven A330-300s. Subsidiary Thai VietJetAir (VZ, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi) has 18 aircraft - twelve A320-200s and six A321-200s.
Additionally, VietJet and Rolls-Royce signed an agreement for forty Trent 7000 engines and the engine service to power the ordered A330-900s. The airline currently has fourteen old-generation Trent 700s powering the A330-300s. The Trent 7000 is the latest member of the engine family.
Finally, Vietjet and Lufthansa Technik inked an exclusive Total Component Support multi-year agreement for 184 Airbus A320 family and nine A330 aircraft, that will start from October 2024 onwards. The agreement encompasses extensive component services. This is Lufthansa Technik's largest TCS contract in the Southeast Asia region, the company announced.
