Skyward Express (OW, Nairobi Wilson) has signed an agreement with De Havilland Aircraft of Canada (DHC, Toronto Downsview) to purchase a used DHC-8-Q400 as part of the newly-announced DHC OEM Certified Refurbishment Programme that aims to keep the Dash 8 family of aircraft in service.
In an announcement at the 2024 Farnborough International Airshow, De Havilland said the aircraft would be reconfigured to support the Kenyan carrier's fleet growth plans. Skyward Express already operates one DHC-8-100 and one DHC-8-300, according to ch-aviation fleets data, plus three Fokker 100s, two Fokker 50s, and one Fokker 70.
De Havilland Aircraft of Canada also announced contracts for refurbished Dash 8 models with Widerøe (WF, Bodø) and TGF - Tanzania Government Flight (Dar es Salaam).
