Abra Group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Airbus to order five A350-900s, in a deal announced during the 2024 Farnborough Air Show.

The London-based holding company for avianca airlines and GOL Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes, which recently acquired a stake in Wamos Air, did not reveal which carrier would operate the aircraft. A spokesperson told ch-aviation that while tentative delivery dates were included in the agreement, they would not be disclosed right now.

"[The deal] means better prices for customers with better connectivity between our continent and Europe, and will further consolidate Abra as one of the largest and most competitive air transportation groups in Latin America. The aircraft selection is consistent with the strategic announcements we have made this year and further executes our long-term vision," chief executive Adrian Neuhauser said.

avianca airlines currently operates an all-B787-8 widebody fleet comprising 15 units. It retired its A330-200s in 2023. GOL does not operate any widebody aircraft. Wamos Air is an all-A330 ACMI/charter specialist with a fleet of five A330-200s and seven A330-300s.
