Private jet start-up Fly Sirius (Delhi International) conducted its first revenue flight with a roundtrip service between Delhi and Ahmedabad on July 23, using a Hawker 4000 now registered as VT-KVR (msn RC-50).
As previously reported in ch-aviation, Fly Sirius is a joint venture between Airavat Aviation and Sirius India Airlines Pvt. Ltd. Airavat is a subsidiary of Dubai-based shipping entity Transworld Group and has access to more aircraft, while Sirius India Airlines Pvt. Ltd has close links with two former SpiceJet (SG, Delhi International) executives, ex-COO Arun Kashyap and ex-CCO Shilpa Bhatia.
Kashyap recently told the Indian site SP's Aviation that the Indian charter market lacks supply and that Fly Sirius will initially rely on the one Hawker 4000. However, he added that there are plans to induct a second and third in September 2024 and February 2025. Airavat has other Hawker 4000s in its possession.
"The private charter segment in India is underserved and holds immense potential for growth," Kashyap claimed. "While competition is increasing, there is still ample room for new players to enter the market and offer innovative services. Positives include a growing affluent class, increasing business travel needs, and a desire for exclusive travel experiences."
ADS-B flight tracking data shows VT-KVR has not operated since July 23.
