Enrique Javier Beltranena Mejicano, president and chief executive of Volaris (Y4, México City International), has acquired 1,580,000 Series A shares in the company on the open market through the Mexican Stock Exchange (Bolsa Mexicana de Valores - BMV), the carrier announced in a filing.
While the transaction amount was not publicly available, Volaris’s CEO is estimated to have invested about MXN18.12 million pesos (USD965,000). The acquisition was carried out in compliance, the airline said, with the applicable rules and regulations and the terms of the company’s insider trading policy.
This stock acquisition takes the shares Beltranena owns in the company to over 12 million. According to Volaris’ 2023 annual report, he previously held 10.5 million shares. Last year, the share ownership of Volaris’ directors and officers represented less than 2.5% of the company’s total shares, with Beltranena the main shareholder in this group.
Indigo Partners remains Volaris’s largest shareholder, owning about 18.2% of the company’s Series A shares.
