US chipmaker and technology company Intel will suspend its Intel Aviation corporate shuttle, as part of its newly announced cuts, The Oregonian newspaper reported.
Intel Aviation's fleet currently comprises two E145s and two E175s. All four are operated by GMJ Air Shuttle (HGT, San José, US), a division of XOJET Aviation (XOJ, Fort Lauderdale Executive), under its 'HGT' code. The aircraft operate private charters under a Part 125 certificate, connecting Intel's facilities on the US West Coast and beyond, operating mostly from Portland Hillsboro, Sacramento Mather, San José, US, and Phoenix Williams Gateway.
Intel does not own the Embraer aircraft. The ch-aviation fleets ownership module shows that the E145s are leased from Truist Equipment Finance Corp, and the E175s from Azorra.
The company posted a net loss of USD1.6 billion in the second quarter of 2024, prompting it to launch a USD10 billion cost-cutting programme. While Intel did not disclose the details of the cuts publicly, CEO Pat Gelsinger told employees during an internal chat that they would affect many of the employee perks and programmes, including the corporate shuttle. The Intel Aviation shuttle had only restarted in April 2024 after a year-long break.
The company did not respond to ch-aviation's request for comment regarding when Intel Aviation operations will be paused and what the fate of the four aircraft will be.
