Quebec - Service Aérien Gouvernemental (QUE, Québec) (SAG) has entered into an agreement with Bombardier Aerospace to acquire a used Challenger 650, which will help the state-owned air medical transport operator to renew its aging fleet.

The 2017-build jet is set to arrive this month and will join a medevac fleet comprising one DHC-8-Q200, one DHC-8-Q300, and two Challenger 600s. Transport minister Geneviève Guilbault told the Canadian newspaper Le Devoir that the jet “will extend the life of the other two Challengers,” which were manufactured in 1989 and 1994.

The Québec provincial government has paid CAD28 million Canadian dollars (USD20.4 million) for the incoming Challenger, which must be modified before it can become operational.

ch-aviation research shows the new Challenger 650 has not been added to SAG’s book as yet, Transport Canada’s registry shows. SAG has a fleet of 21 aircraft, including fourteen Canadair CL-215 Scoopers, and three helicopters: one Bell Helicopter 206B, one Bell 412EP, and one Kawasaki BK 117.

ch-aviation has reached out to Québec’s transport ministry for comment on the registration and delivery dates of the medevac aircraft.
