DAT (R6, Kaunas International) has applied for exemption authority and a foreign air carrier permit to conduct charter flights to and from the United States, according to a regulatory filing lodged with the US Department of Transportation (DOT).
The Lithuanian carrier, legal name UAB DAT LT, is a subsidiary of DAT (Denmark) (DX, Kolding). In its filing, it said that receiving the charter permit would result in increased travel choices, greater service options, and enhanced competition.
The move follows the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) upgrading of Lithuania to Category 1 under its IASA safety programme in April 2024, “which now enables DAT and other carriers from Lithuania to operate to the United States with their own aircraft.”
The ch-aviation fleets module shows DAT operates a fleet of 22 aircraft - five A320-200s, one A321-200, one ATR42-300, one ATR42-300(QC), one ATR42-320, one ATR42-320(QC), four ATR42-500s, two ATR72-200s, two ATR72-200(QC)s, two ATR72-500s, and two ATR72-600s.
