Uzbekistan Airways (HY, Tashkent International) has announced a new route between Tashkent and Goa Mopa due to begin in October and the restart of flights between Tashkent and Phu Quoc in the same month. The announcements build on comments the airline's management made earlier this year concerning route expansion and acquiring new aircraft.
Uzbekistan Airways will start its twice-weekly roundtrips to Goa Mopa on October 27, servicing the route with an A320-200N. It already flies into Delhi International and Mumbai International in India. Twice-weekly flights to the Vietnamese island of Phú Quốc will resume on the same day, also using A320-200N stock.
The carrier told Uzbek news outlets in June that it wanted to add new routes and increase its fleet by up to half a dozen aircraft. The ch-aviation fleets module shows Uzbekistan Airways operates forty-five aircraft, including nine A320-200s, ten A320-200Ns, five A321-200NX(LR)s, two ACJ320-200s, two wet-leased A330-300s, one B757-200, five B767-300ERs, two B767-300ER(BCF)s, seven B787-8s, and two Il-76TDs. To date this year, Uzbekistan Airways has accepted delivery of two A320-200Ns, namely UK32040 (msn 9132) and UK32029 (msn 9115), and one of the two wet leased A330-200s, UK33021 (msn 1260). Both A330-200s are operated by Qanot Sharq (HH, Tashkent International).
Separately, at the Matta Fair International Travel Fair in Kuala Lumpur this week, Uzbekistan Airways reached an agreement with ANA - All Nippon Airways (NH, Tokyo Haneda) to expand their existing codeshare arrangements. The expansion will allow passengers boarding in Tashkent to fly through to Langkawi and Kota Kinabalu on HY flight numbers.
