KlasJet (KLJ, Vilnius) has announced plans to reconfigure one of its B737-800s with a dedicated business class, aiming to better serve the global ACMI market.
"While this cabin configuration is in high demand, and traditionally not provided, we are making these upgrades to cater to interest in Africa and other markets where we see this demand is underserved," Deputy Chief Commercial Officer Augustinas Riskus said.
The Lithuanian ACMI/charter specialist plans to initially convert one aircraft but will add more subject to demand. It refused to disclose the registration of the first aircraft to be converted as yet, but it will seat up to 12 passengers in business class with a 2-2 layout, and 162 in economy.
KlasJet, a subsidiary of Avia Solutions Group, currently operates seven B737-800s all of which are configured in a high-density single-class layout, seating up to 186-189 passengers. The airline's fleet also includes two B737-300s and three B737-500s in executive configurations proffered to the charter market.
The ch-aviation fleets module shows that the only B737-800 currently available for ACMI contracts with a dedicated business class is EI-CXV (msn 32364) operated by MIAT - Mongolian Airlines (OM, Ulaanbaatar).
