flyv (Germany) (Stuttgart Manfred Rommel) has announced it will begin scheduled commercial flights under the flybbird brand from Friedrichshafen in May 2025 with at least one Tecnam P2012 following the successful completion of a demonstration flight on September 10 from the Lake Constance airport.
The flight was conducted by German charter carrier Alpen Air (Germany) (Munich Augsburg) using Tecnam P2012 D-ISLA (msn 043), according to ADS-B data.
flyv founder Tomislav Lang told ch-aviation the virtual carrier plans to apply for its own air operator's certificate (AOC) in 2025, but will initially continue its partnership with Alpen Air for the launch, starting with at least one, possibly two Tecnam P2012s. Within 12 months, flyv plans to grow the fleet to four aircraft and to 10-15 in two/three years-time. Asked if these would be leased or bought, he said numerous options are on the table. The choice of the nine-seater twin-piston Tecnam follows a strategic partnership with Italian constructor Costruzioni Aeronautiche TECNAM (Capua).
As flyv will offer ad-hoc flights, it will not have a real "base", he explained, but Friedrichshafen will be the first key region of operations with others to follow in time.
flyv will sell its flights through an app-based platform using algorithms to schedule flights based on paid bookings. Passengers will receive a guaranteed fixed travel time when booking flights and exact itinerary details before departure. The focus will be on serving regional airports to offer a faster and more convenient alternative to traditional transport methods. The company previously announced a partnership with Electra.aero (Washington National) for its nine-passenger hybrid eSTOL aircraft.
