Iberia (IB, Madrid Barajas) has brought forward its A321-200NY(XLR) debut, which is now set to take place on October 26 between Madrid Barajas and London Heathrow.
As launch customer of the new Airbus extra-long-range narrowbody, the Spanish carrier will deploy the XLR on six crew training flights from Madrid to London between October 26 and 31, and 32 flights from October 26 to November 13 from Madrid to Paris CDG. Transoceanic services to Boston are still slated for November 14.
Iberia’s A321neo(XLR) will have a two-class configuration with 14 seats in business and 168 in economy. Besides Boston, the Spanish airline will deploy its new jet family to Washington Dulles on January 15, 2025.

IAG International Airlines Group, Iberia's parent, ordered fourteen A321neo(XLR)s in 2019 of which six were initially destined for Aer Lingus (EI, Dublin International) and eight for Iberia. Airbus has secured orders for 496 A321neo(XLR)s from 23 confirmed customers.
