Afriqiyah Airways (8U, Tripoli Mitiga) has signed an additional firm order with Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) for four A350-900s. It had originally already ordered six A350-800s in 2008 but has now also adjusted this order from -800s to -900s. Afriqiyah expects to resume long-haul operations with its two A330-200s soon with Beijing Capital, Dhaka and Johannesburg O.R. Tambo expected to be among its first routes from Tripoli once it does. It plans to eventually expand to destinations in the United States once the A350s start to get delivered from 2017.
