Cebu Pacific Air (5J, Manila Ninoy Aquino International) has finalised a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) covering up to 102 A321-200Ns, with a minimum commitment of 70 units, and options for a further fifty A320neo Family aircraft. Deliveries are due to begin in 2029.
Chief executive Mike Szucs told local media that the low-cost carrier is still evaluating various options for financing, including through a financial institution or using sale/lease-backs. As previously announced, the carrier has selected Pratt & Whitney PW1100G engines for the type.
Cebu Pacific Air's current fleet comprises twenty A320-200s, twenty A320-200Ns, seven A321-200s, sixteen A321-200NX, and nine A330-900s. It has twenty-three A320neo Family aircraft on order, with deliveries scheduled over the five-year period before the new batch enters service. The current backlog is split between six A320-200Ns, seven A321-200NX, and ten A321-200NY(XLR)s, although the airline has the flexibility to change the variants. Cebu Pacific has also signed up for at least two more A320-200Ns from AerCap, the ch-aviation fleets module shows.
