Gridiron Air (RZN, Fort Worth Alliance) completed its Part 121 supplemental air carrier certification on October 30, 2024, allowing it to proffer its two B777-200ERs to the charter market.
"Our B777-200ER fleet will be a market disruptor. With four distinct cabin zones, including 28 lie-flat seats and seating for up to 288 passengers in unmatched comfort, upgraded connectivity and in-flight entertainment, we are excited for our guests to experience the new standard in large aircraft charter," president and CEO Paul Kirby said.
The operator was previously certified as a Part 125 carrier, authorising it to operate large aircraft but only privately. Both of its ex-Delta Air Lines B777-200ERs were contracted by the Arizona Cardinals, a professional American football team, but operations on the team's behalf stopped in June 2023. Afterwards, Gridiron Air announced plans to become a Part 121 carrier focused on the large aircraft charter niche.
Gridiron Air plans to add two more ex-Delta B777-200ERs to its fleet. In an October 30 regulatory filing it confirmed that the plan was unchanged but did not provide a timeline for the induction of the two aircraft.
