AirMed International (MEJ, Birmingham, AL) aims to replace its fleet of Hawker 800 aircraft with Bombardier Business Aircraft Challenger 605s by 2025, the operator's president, Denise Treadwell, revealed in an interview with the International Travel & Health Insurance Journal. The company currently operates three Hawker 800-series aircraft, comprising one BAe-125-800(SP) and two Hawker 800XPi(2)s.
“This is a larger airframe with a significant increase in operational range - a 20% increase, to be exact,” she explained. “Longer range means fewer stops and faster overall mission-completion times.”
The interiors of the new aircraft will be completed by Aerolite, a specialist in aeromedical configurations for both fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters. Treadwell also mentioned that AirMed International plans to expand its operational reach, adding Singapore and Dubai as locations from which it can assist patients based on their required level of care.
In addition to its Hawker 800 fleet, AirMed International, which has been part of the Global Medical Response (GMR) group since 2018, operates a diverse fleet under its Part 135 certificate. This includes one Beechjet 400A, one Citation Bravo, one Hawker 400XP, one King Air B200, and one King Air C90B.
Global Medical Response includes other certified operators, namely Air Evac EMS, Eagle Air Med, Guardian Flight, Med-Trans Air Medical Transport, and REACH Air Medical Services. Collectively, the group operates 90 fixed-wing aircraft and 383 helicopters across its various certificates.
