Royal Air Charters (Lusaka) has taken delivery of its first E140, ch-aviation research has revealed. N851AE (msn 145734) was ferried from Centralia Huron to Lusaka between November 19 and 21, with stops at Bangor International, Goose Bay, Reykjavik Keflavik, Shannon, Tirana, Luxor, Addis Ababa International, and Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta.
The 21.4-year-old regional jet will be re-registered in Zambia as 9J-PKP. Powered by Rolls-Royce AE 3007 engines, the aircraft was configured with 44 all-economy seats during its time with its former operator, Envoy Air (MQ, Dallas/Fort Worth), a regional subsidiary of American Airlines (AA, Dallas/Fort Worth).
Originally delivered to Envoy Air in 2003, the aircraft was retired and stored at Marana in late 2020. In August 2023, it was transferred to Bangor, remaining parked until October 2024, when it was repositioned to Centralia Huron.
With this addition, Royal Air Charters adds a second Embraer aircraft to its fleet. The Zambian-based company operates a 24.3-year-old E145, 9J-TST (msn 145305), since 2019. Configured in a single-class layout with seating for 50 passengers, the jet is currently leased to Airfast Congo (Lubumbashi), operating routes between Lubumbashi, Kolwezi, and Kinshasa N'Djili.
Royal Air Charters's fleet also includes a Cessna (single turboprop) 208B Grand Caravan.
ch-aviation has contacted Royal Air Charters for information on the new aircraft’s future plans.
