French Polynesian cargo start-up Motu Link Airline (Papeete) has raised two-thirds of the XPF380 million CFP francs (USD3.3 million) it is seeking from investors through a crowdfunding platform. A statement from the platform, Fenua Financement, says 173 investors have committed XPF251 million (USD2.2 million) since the campaign started in mid-November.
Motu Link has ambitions to become the French territory's sole cargo-only airline, targeting perishable and time-sensitive freight normally transported in the bellyhold space of Air Tahiti (VT, Papeete) passenger aircraft or in the refrigerated holds of ships.
SAS Motu Link Airline is a private company that was added to the Papeete trade and company register on January 29, 2021, as a simplified joint-stock company with a share capital of XPF5 million (USD44,000). Its head office is in Papeete, and the chairman is listed as Alexandre Mu.
