A Lagos court has lifted a bench warrant issued against Ahmed Kuru, the former managing director of the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON), after he appeared in court on December 13, the newspaper Punch reported.

Kuru, along with four others, is facing six charges including stealing property worth NGN4.9 billion naira (USD3.2 million) from Arik Air (W3, Lagos) and abuse of office, in a case brought against him by Nigeria's Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

The bench warrant was issued on December 3 after Kuru initially failed to attend court. It was revoked following his appearance last week and after his lawyer assured the court of Kuru's future attendance.

The case was adjourned until January 20, 2025.
