The Ontario government has announced a CAD93 million Canadian dollar (USD64.6 million) investment to add the first jets to the fleet of Ornge Air (PUL, Toronto Pearson) and build a new hangar at Barrie/Orillia/Lake Simcoe Regional Airport.

Orgne Air will increase its medevac fleet by adding two PC-24s, the company confirmed to ch-aviation. Once delivered, these will allow the air ambulance specialist to “travel longer distances without the need to refuel" and complete four long-distance transports per day, doubling the number being operated with the current fleet.

According to the Canadian aircraft registry, Ornge’s fleet currently consists of 12 helicopters and eight planes, all PC-12s.

The new aircraft and hangar are in addition to a CAD118 million (USD82 million) investment announced in 2023 to expand Ornge’s fixed-wing fleet to 12 aircraft, including the replacement of the existing eight fixed-wing aircraft and purchase of a larger hangar at Sudbury to house them, the Ontario government clarified in a statement.
