Air Berlin (1991) (Berlin Tegel) CEO Hartmut Mehdorn has said that the carrier would have decided to spin off its topbonus frequent flier plan into a separate commercial entity and to sell the majority of the shares in the new company. If succcessful this plan will provide Air Berlin with additional funds for its turnaround plan. Air Berlin also plans to cut its fleet down further from 156 to 135 aircraft operated by itself, subsidiaries Belair Airlines (Zurich) and Niki (Austria) (Vienna) as well as on its behalf by wet-lease providers LGW - Luftfahrtgesellschaft Walter (Dortmund), Germania (Berlin Schönefeld), Pegasus Airlines (PC, Istanbul Sabiha Gökcen) and TUI fly (Germany) (X3, Hannover).
